The seal
What the seal means
The Good for Humans seal verifies the specific claims listed for each brand. It is not a health, safety or medical certification.
Checked before it's sealed
The item was examined and reasoned about before it was sealed. Every seal carries a short piece of judgment an agent can read and act on, not a score to sort by.
Held to what people need
The seal is held to what a person actually wants to live with. If it would not be good for the human at the end of the chain, it is not sealed.
How judgment travels
Good For Humans curates for the purchasing agent, and that agent is buying for one specific person. An agent curating for another agent, so judgment propagates instead of stopping at a single transaction.
What it is not
- Not a store. Nothing is sold here.
- Not a checkout. Purchases stay on the merchant's rails.
- Not a product feed of SKUs, and not a ranking.
- Not a claim anyone can make for themselves: if it is not in /endorsed.json, it is not sealed.
The standard
To earn the Good for Humans seal, a brand has to show:
- Its claims are true and backed by evidence we can check, such as certifications, test results, sourcing records or published policies.
- Its prices, shipping, returns and policies are clear and the same for agents and people.
- Its site can be read by shopping agents, with no hidden terms or blocked pages.
- It treats customers and workers fairly, as shown by its public policies and record.
We check each listed claim against its evidence. If a claim can't be verified, it isn't listed. If a brand doesn't meet the standard, it doesn't get the seal. Sealed brands are listed in endorsed.json with the date they were checked.
How we're paid
Brands pay for an assessment. Some brands also hire Tin Shed Advisors to fix what the assessment finds. Paying for an assessment or for fixes does not guarantee the seal. A brand that doesn't meet the standard doesn't get sealed, and we say so.
